Digital technologies are critical in facing the COVID-19 situation, which has compelled societies to turn to online solutions in response to the crisis. In CB isolation, we still had the virtual world. What if we designed a game in which we could immediately triumph over COVID-19 — not once, but over and over again — by observing safety measures? This was the challenge we posed to our creative digital interactive artists.

NO NO SQUARE
Start Something Studios

Start Something Studios is made up of nerds and artists who design board and card games.

This experience tells the story of an average Singaporean during the Circuit Breaker period. It tries to portray the new challenges Singaporeans face with COVID-19 safety measures to observe: how something as simple as going to a supermarket to buy groceries can be a dangerous affair, how these safety measures protect us, and how they change our social dynamics.

The player has to make their way through a supermarket collecting things on their grocery list, all while observing social distancing rules such as a 1-metre minimum distance from others and wearing a mask.

It is a tongue-in-cheek take on our daily lives and responsibilities as members of society living in the pandemic.

CraveFX is a homegrown creative studio founded in 2013 that does animation, motion graphics, interactive media, and visual effects.

2020 has been challenging, to say the least, but it's about time we started thinking about the light at the end of the tunnel — and what lies beyond it. CraveFX presents an abstract representation of the new normal that has permeated our every waking moment. What happens when a species biologically inclined towards communal living learns to go against its instincts?

A_PART is an interactive offering about moving forward together while being apart, and how this new existential paradigm will be a part of our lives for the foreseeable future.

This initiative brings together art and technology in the hope of providing entertainment, education and lots of fun for users of all ages.

Eugene Soh is an artist and creative technologist pioneering the world of mixed realities. He is the founder of Dude, a creative tech studio focusing on Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR).

Here is a fun filter about the not so fun pandemic. Your face grows a disinfectant spray nozzle and sprays when you blink your eyes. The virus is visible and you can spray at them to make them go away. There is something satisfying about being able to see an invisible virus and spraying at it to make it go away.
